Way back in March, I told you guys about my goal to raise $5,000 for buildOn in order to go to Nepal and help build a school.
Then life went whacko.
And my play went to Fringe.
And I had to raise money for that.
Now I am back and focusing on Nepal.
I'm got a little over a month to raise $5,000.
Lord help me.
All kinds of lords and ladies and spirits and sprites...I need your help.
Below is the little description on the fundraising page:
The past few months I've been so incredibly lucky to see a few pages I started writing in college become a full-fledged play in NYC. My play got there because my love of reading and writing started early in elementary school and grew as I got older and learned more and more.
Not a day goes by that I don't acknowledge how lucky I am to have had these opportunities. I want to give back. I am going to give back. With buildOn. In Nepal.
I told many of you of my goal to raise $5,000 for buildOn so that I can travel to Nepal and help break ground on a school in February 2013.
By raising this $5,000, a child in Nepal will have a place where he or she will learn to read and much more. He or she will have a place to learn to write. The school will act as a community education center where more learning and exchanging of ideas can and will happen. Maybe a young girl will write a play there too and see it grow (too sappy? What can I say? I'm a sap. And it can happen. Maybe it will.)
Today there are 1.2 billion people around the globe who are illiterate largely due to a lack of access to education. 72% of those illiterate are women. Providing access to education for even one remote village can change the lives of hundreds of children living in poverty year-after-year.
I only have until October 19th to raise the full $5,000. So if you have a few dollars in your back pocket, consider donating to this great cause.
If I do end up going, you can fully expect me to write about my experience and most definitely share it all with you. :)
So if you are a kind-hearted individual, consider checking out my fundraising page and donating a dollar or two. Then maybe consider passing it along.
Thanks, friends!
