Ha. So. I wrote a post on Monday lamenting the fact that I had once again gone ahead and screwed the pooch. Okay, I didn't write that. I did say that I had put writing on the back burner once more.
Well, that is going to have to change very soon.
You see, my play got into the Fringe Festival in NYC.
You read it right, ya'll. The lovely woman who agreed to direct my play called me up last night and left me a message with the news.
or what she will is coming to Broadway--eerrrr, NYC. That is what I meant.
And now shit moves into gear. I need to get my play workshopped. Edits need to happen. AND THEN MY PLAY WILL BE PRESENTED TO LOTS OF PEOPLE.
Can you see my excitement?
Really, can you see it?
Because last night I was told I did not look excited.
On the other hand, I am sitting here, writing this, with a blank expression on my face.
Okay, I digress.
YAY! Play! Okay.
(see what I did there?)
And...it is Friday. So there should be a roundup.
How about one article:
The Complete Guide to Hipster Racism
Love this paragraph: "When people are trying to be sensitive about race but they don't know
what to say, they usually go with, "Well, race is a complicated issue."
Except, no, it's not. Race is one of the least complicated issues that
there is, because it's made up. It's arbitrary. It's as complicated as
goddamn Santa Claus. Oh, that guy's mom was half-black, which makes his
skin slightly more pigmented than mine, which therefore means that he's
inherently 12.5% lazier than me? Science! Um, no. What's actually
complicated is our country's relationship with race, and our utter
ineptitude at talking about it. We suck. I mean, I work on it
every day, and I'm still a total fuck-up. But this new scheme someone
came up with—where we prove we're not racist by acting as casually
racist as possible? Not our best, white people. Not our best."
and...I'm...spent...
see you back here next week!
