Oops! I did it again

Ha.

So Britney Spears' 'Oops! I Did It Again' has been playing in my head all weekend.

No, not because I feel an overwhelming need to return to middle school.

Because I did it again: I have created a schedule that makes it difficult to find the time and energy to write.

First off, let me say: "Boo-f**kin'-hoo". I'm saying that to myself so you don't have to. I know most people who end up writing aren't living the life of leisure and writing by a window in a room of one's own all the damn time. I get that. I know that.

But, wasn't that my plan? To create a life in which writing could happen?

Life is what happens when you are busy making other plans, right?

Life has been happening. Wonderful, crazy, amazing life things have been happening. New jobs. New friends. New apartment.

New things that make me happy. New things that enable me to live and work a life that emphasizes health and happiness for myself and others. 

But certain things have had to go. Or have had to find new venues.

My playwriting has dwindled, but my poetry writing has increased.

I wrote a poem during intermission at music performance on Friday.

So I guess I do have time to write. It is just not what I thought the time would look like.

Still, when I picture my future, I'm a writer. Living in a house by the water. With my family. You never know? Working a number of part-time jobs, teaching three yoga classes a week, starting my own yoga/health coaching business, etc. might get me there...

P.S. I haven't been marking them, but I have been writing poems daily again. So maybe I am just going through a poetry phase right now.
