In a Frenzy

Last November, I did NaNoWriMo as many of you all know. Of course, I haven't so much as opened what I wrote for NaNoWriMo because I believe it stinks beyond compare. Still, I am grateful for NaNoWriMo because it showed me that when I am motivated by a deadline and/or bragging rights (albeit useless bragging rights), I can get sh*t done.

I'm feeling right now that I can't get sh*t done. Part of that is because I have my hands in about 2o different pots right now (really wish one of those pots included a steady paycheck...I'm working on that one as we speak...as per usual...but at least a few of them include small checks that aren't so steady...baby steps) and think I'm teetering on the edge of trying to do too much. Part of that is because my focus is all over the place and I need a deadline.

Last week, I went to NYC to talk to the Chair of a grad school department...one in playwriting. Granted, I have no plans to rush my butt back to grad school and am not even sure if that path is for me. Still, it got me thinking about how I want to build up my writing portfolio. I started writing something in January, which I still need to get back to and hopefully will, but I am thinking I may need a new project to get the creativity flowing once again. Still my focus has been all over the place and I need a deadline.

So I'm going to participate in Script Frenzy, the NaNoWriMo of play/screen/other stuff. It is in April and seeing as though in April I am moving to a new apartment (still in Philly), teaching a few donation-based yoga classes, participating in another yoga teacher training, going to NYC for the Yoga Journal Conference, writing regular articles for Beccastone.com, completing coursework for my health coaching certification, and hoping to be working more regularly it seems like the perfect time to participate.

So it is happening. You hear that writing buddies? I'll have writing for you to read...in April. And you readers will have lovely stories about how my play went from insane to unimaginably ridiculous and bad. So, yeah, you have that to look forward to. Aren't you excited?
