How good of a play can I write in two days?
No, seriously.
I have 34 pages of a play. I want to finish it. By Friday.
I am sure there are some writers who spend months, years writing and rewriting, perfecting lines before they ever have a complete draft.
I do that sometimes. That may be the way to do it.
But I also know of writers who write a draft in a couple of days (or weeks depending on the length of the project) and then go back and rework everything.
There is a theater I want to submit a play to and I'm wondering if I can get a draft done by midnight on Friday.
I didn't say it would be a good draft.
Not at all.
But I think there is something to be said for just getting in the practice of submitting (though there is something to be said for only submitting things that are, well, polished).
Maybe I'll just pretend like I am submitting and instead just have a really bad draft done by Friday night.
I don't know.
I still haven't figured out my style with writing. I haven't gotten into my groove, which is fine, because in writer years I am like a baby. So maybe this fast and furious writing spell will yield good results.
Maybe.
Or maybe this is a bad idea...?
