Problem Solved

Remember that moment that made me want to scream?

Well I solved it.

Later that day.

I received a few emails about it from those involved with the production. And honestly...the emails annoyed me. Not because of anything they said, but really just because I didn't want to think about it anymore.

I was over that moment.

I was in full retreat mode and instead they wanted me to, well, not retreat.

This led to frustration.

And I fumed as I drove to teach my evening yoga class.  In my head I planned my response. My impassioned ode to retreating.

And then, like some crazy voodoo writer magic (or like something akin to what Elizabeth Gilbert describes here), I heard my characters voices in my head. There they were. In that moment. The moment I wanted to retreat from and they were there. And they spoke.

Two short lines. A question and an answer. Two words total. One for each.

And I nearly pissed my pants.

There was my answer.

I found the fucking answer to the moment that made me want to scream while complaining to myself about how people wouldn't let me retreat from that moment.

So instead of writing an email filled with frustration.

I wrote one with the answer. And a sense of gratitude. Without being pushed, I may never have gotten there.

Life is funny sometimes. So is writing. Sometimes the answer comes when you least expect it. And sometimes you will be kicking and screaming when it finally comes. Which is awkward because then you have to be all like "ha...ha...oops...well...um....ha....wasn't I just overreacting...? Ha. Ha. Right....?"
