A Service Project

If you have stopped by Delightful Writes in the past 24 hours, you know that I have a project I'm working on. If you received an email from me on Monday, you've already read the majority of this. If you don't read that blog, didn't get an email (don't worry, it doesn't mean I don't love you) or want to hear about this awesome project yet again, read on.

This past weekend I started a second yoga teacher training program (because I'm just as nerdy when it comes to yoga as I am about most things in life). The main thing that attracted me to this program is the fact that much of the training will be about service. As a participant in the program, I will be raising $5,000 for buildOn over the next few months so that I can travel to Nepal next February and help break ground on a school.

Yup, that's right. This girl who is afraid of flying is traveling across the world to build a school.

You know why?

Because reading and writing have saved me over and over again and I truly want every child in this world to have the opportunity to fall in love with a book or, better yet, write his or her own.

AND one of the greatest aspects of working with buildOn is that they require every school to have at least 50% of the students be female. Can I get a 'hell yes?!

So, blogging community, friends, stalkers, and anyone else who ventures here...this is where you come in. I need help raising that $5,000. So I am asking you to consider donating. Here is my donation page! Take a look and venture onto buildOn's website. Ask me questions if you have them. Tell your friends and family. Tell them to tell their friends and family. I'll be talking about this a lot over the next few months so there will be more information. I promise.

Also, if you live in Philly, I'll be teaching a donation-based yoga class each month. All proceeds of those special classes will go to this project (The first class is this Thursday at 6:30pm. For more info, hit up the website). There will be other events too. A poetry reading. A possible book sale. I'll keep you posted. :)
