At my reading in NYC, a young woman came up to me. She explained that she was the director of one of the other plays, but had read my play and really liked it. Ten minutes later, we were exchanging information. I didn't know if anything would come of it.
A week later I got a phone call from her. She works with a theater group and she thought my play would be perfect for them. She thought it would be perfect for them to submit to the Fringe Festival in NYC. Would I be okay with that?
Hell yes.
A week later, everything was okay'd and I was left in this weird state. An application was being drawn up, but I wasn't writing it. My play was being passed around, but I wasn't doing the passing. My play was being read and I had no idea who was reading it. It was this weirdly, odd, blissful state. Is this what happens?
This week I got an email from the director. She had submitted an application to two festivals. Fingers crossed we'd get one. Also, someone was looking into getting my play workshopped in the Philly area sometime in the late spring because, let's be real, some changes need to happen. More details to come.
So, friends, keep your fingers crossed. Hopefully or what she will be at a theater near you sooner than you think.
Also, keep your fingers crossed for the conference I am waiting to hear back from.
Just keep your fingers crossed in general for me, okay?
