Viola, Writing, and Edwidge

First, I continue to love Viola Davis.
Video and partial transcript via Feministing.

“The stain of racism and sexism is not just for people of color or women. It’s all of our burden. All of us,” she said. “And I don’t care how ordinary you may feel. All of us can inspire change. Every single one of us.”

Love her.

Second, a little writing update:
Since I'm participating in yoga teacher training for the next five weeks, for 8 hours a day, I've had to change my writing schedule. Like I've said before, I used to write between 11am and 4pm. Those hours were my best hours...until now...maybe?

Now I write between 7:30am and 8:15am. I thought it would be terrible, pulling teeth, but instead I make some tea and write over breakfast. And I have to say...it has been really good. The writing gets done first thing in the morning, in a nice, calm way. What has also been good? Just writing and not worrying about where it is going. I've been sending the work to my writing buddies and so far so good. They haven't told me to throw it in the toilet. All good signs.

Third:
I'm in love with Edwidge Danticat. I've read two of her books in the past two weeks. Probably going to go buy more.
